FUSING

An added layer of strength.

All Andamen garments are designed to maximise wear. That means that they need to stand up to the most dreaded force of nature: time.

One of the ways we increase the longevity of each garment is by adding an extra layer of fabric to our plackets, cuffs and collars to give them added strength. This process is called fusing. It not only improves durability but also brings structure, making you look a whole lot smarter and sharper.

Choosing the right fusing.

FUSIBLE

Designed to add strength & sharpness to the fabric, used mainly in garments that require a structured drape (like for plackets, cuffs, collars etc)

NON-FUSIBLE

These are interlinings that keeps the fabric relaxed & non-stiff mainly used for our casuals.

We put our fusings to the test.

We test our fusings by washing the fabric at upto 140-150ºC for five seconds to see if the structure is sound. If any bubbles form due to incorrect fusing, the fabric is immediately rejected.

We repeat this process at least five times for good measure.

BUTTONS

Pushing all the right buttons.

For us, buttons aren’t just functional. They’re also playful. Depending on our design needs, we spend a lot of time experimenting with an array of buttons—made with wood, coconut shell, metal and recycled polyester.

Each button is has a story to tell and is carefully chosen to perfectly complement the garment. It’s this obsession over the tiniest of details that add up to truly elevate your overall style.

Making buttons, better.

We prioritise natural materials over their plastic counterparts while choosing buttons for our styles. Oh and we also put them through the ringer to ensure their durability.

Pulling their weight.

PULL TEST

Tested for strength & durability by pulling with a force of 70N (Newton) for 15 seconds. That’s equivalent to lifting weights of about 7.5kg.

Wood not bleed.

WASH TEST

Meticulously pre-washed in hot water to ensure our wooden buttons don’t bleed colour.

Ensuring they stay put.

SHANK TEST

All our buttons undergo a shanking test, to ensure they sit on the garment the way they’re meant to.

STITCHING

Stitching garments. Weaving quality.

Stitching is one of those things that can make or break a garment. A well stitched garment goes a long way in elevating your style and also adds to a garment’s longevity.

How do you know if a shirt is well-stitched? For starters, every stitch should be perfectly straight, feel smooth on the surface and seem almost invisible to the eye. Our garments tick all of these boxes, and some more.

Finish on a high.

We’re often asked what makes our product different? Is it the materials we use? Or maybe it’s the way we stitch. Or the buttons we choose.

It’s actually all of that and more. It’s everything that goes into a garment from the beginning to the way it’s finished.

Premium dyes, superior machines, expert craftsmanship, ethical practices, a clean environment & a whole lot more. Every element contributes to our garments being the way they are—sophisticated, refined & durable.

Effortless quality, backed by rigourous testing.

Behind every quality product is a series of tests, meticulously crafted to check and ensure quality at every stage of the production process.

Between both internal and external inspection of the fabric & the finished garment, there are a total of 30 unique tests that are performed.

Fabric Performance Tests (FPT)

Done in labs with state-of-the-art machinery, these tests focus on all aspects of the garment, testing for things like stability, colour fastness etc.

Garment Performance Tests (FPT)

These tests focus on the finished garment, testing for overall durability, strength of the seams etc.

Quality inspections on multiple levels, at different times.

Each element of our garment is inspected for defects like tears & holes, marks, colour variation, dis-colouration etc.

On top of this, random checks are also perfomed at different stages of the production cycle. The first one happens after 25% of our goods are recieved in our warehouse, then at 50% and the final one, after we receieve everything.
